Copenhagen for Medical Congresses: Bella Center Hotels and Group Tips

Copenhagen's largest medical congresses take place at Bella Center in Ørestad, about 6 km from the airport and 8 km from the city centre, with its own metro station. Meetings there in 2027 include ECCO from 3 to 6 March, Euroanaesthesia from 29 to 31 May and ESICM LIVES from 25 to 29 September. Where to stay

1. Next to Bella Center

AC Hotel Bella Sky is connected to the congress halls and is the obvious first choice for faculty, speakers and early sessions. Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers is also close by in Ørestad. Both fill early in congress weeks.

2. Along metro line M1

Hotels in Ørestad and on Amager, and around Kongens Nytorv and Nørreport in the centre, are all on the same metro line, with no change needed to reach the venue.

3. Central Copenhagen

The centre has the widest choice of hotels and restaurants, and it's the best base for dinners and advisory boards. With the metro running every few minutes, the trip to Bella Center rarely takes more than 15 to 20 minutes door to door.

Planning tips for HCP groups

• Budget realistically. Copenhagen is one of Europe's more expensive cities for hotels and meals, so check the numbers against your company's hospitality limits early.
• Use the metro. It's quick, frequent and runs 24/7, often faster than a coach in morning traffic.
• Book early. With several large congresses a year at Bella Center, we recommend securing a group block 9 to 12 months ahead.
• Agree room block terms upfront. Cut-off dates, attrition and name-change deadlines should be clear before signing.
• Pack for the weather. March and September can be windy and cool, even when the sun is out.

After the sessions

Copenhagen's royal history is easy to explore in an evening: Amalienborg Palace, Rosenborg Castle and Christiansborg Palace are all in the centre, and Kronborg Castle in Helsingør, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an easy day trip. Nyhavn's colourful harbour is the classic photo stop. For dinner, try smørrebrød, the Danish open sandwich, in one of the traditional lunch restaurants, some of which date back to the 19th century.
